For our opening event we'll be discussing how SaaS companies can tackle internationalisation. Based in Spain and especially Barcelona, selling to the rest of the world has it's own challenges. We'll be bringing you a panel of speakers to discuss their own experiences and strategies that can work for you.
Our keynote speaker Javier Darriba will be sharing his story scaling UserZoom internationally to become one of Spain's largest SaaS companies. Javier also brings his insight as founder of SaaS Academy with expertise in sales strategy and process development.
Our panel hosts Alex Bisbe (CEO, Whisbi) and Juan Zamora (CEO, Signaturit), two of Barcelona's largest SaaS companies sharing their experience with international sales. Oriol Juncosa from Encomenda Capital will also be joining our panel discussion.

Javier Darriba is co-founder and president of The SaaS Institute, a company dedicated to helping B2B startups implement scalable, measurable and predictable sales processes. He is also a member of the management committee of some of the most important SaaS companies in Spain, such as Whisbi, Signaturit or Forcemanager. As a Business Angel focused on SaaS ventures he invested in companies such as: Innroute, Citibox, Talent Clue, Boardfy, among others. He is also a member of the investment committee of the venture capital company Encomenda VC.
Previously he was Co CEO of UserZoom, a SaaS company to measure and test user experience on Websites and mobiles. UserZoom has more than 175 employees, has its headquarters in Silicon Valley and has received more than $50 million to consolidate itself as the leading company in its sector worldwide.
Javier is an entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in the Internet sector with extensive experience in internationalization and expansion of technology-based companies as well as user experience management.
Javier holds a degree in Law from the University of Barcelona, an MBA from ESADE and an AMP from IESE.
Juan Zamora, CEO and Co-Founder of Signaturit, has more than 7 years of experience as an analyst in the financial services sector, where he has worked as a Project Manager for banking entities such as BBVA and Banco Sabadell. Furthermore, he has been an entrepreneur in various sectors for the last 5 years, and currently working on his second project . At the age of 15, he started to program in different languages, having his degree in Computer Science and specialising with a Masters degree in Mobile Business & Apps Design.
In 2013, he founded Signaturit, a SaaS company that was born as a need of the market to speed up the signing process combining technology, user experience, while holding the maximum legal guarantees. Signaturit currently offers, among others, high level trust service solutions - electronic signature, certified communications and electronic identification - that allow companies to have a 100% digital onboarding process. The company is implementing at the moment Machine Learning, Blockchain, and Smart Contracts to disrupt the contracts market.
In just a few years, the company has established itself as a market leader in terms of trust services in Spain, helping banks such as Banco Sabadell, insurance companies as AXA and DAS or multinationals such as Volkswagen Group.
Oriol is Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Encomenda Smart Capital, a super angel fund focused on funding early seed start-ups. Encomenda participates in the first or second investment round in early stage start-ups, alongside business angels, and provides free hands-on support in growth hacking, business development, international expansion, finance, fund raising,... In the past 5 years he and his co-founder have invested in over 50 companies.
Oriol is also partner of White Peak Partners, an advisory boutique specialising in advising growth equity companies in Europe regarding M&A and financing based in the UK and in Spain. He is passionate about helping tech start-ups to commercialise new technologies / business models, to scale internationally and fund raising / M&A. In the past 4 years he has helped start-ups that have raised over $100m and have created over $300m in value for shareholders.
Formerly, he was CFO and advisor to Carto, the leading SaaS intelligence location company based in New York and in Madrid. He helped to scale the company from 10 to 100 employees and raise over to $25m in funding from Accel Partners and Earlybird.
Prior to Carto, he was Investment Director at Nauta Capital, a venture capital fund with over $300m under management. At Nauta he invested / contributed to the growth of European technology start-ups like SocialPoint, ABA English, ForceManager …. and provided hands-on management support on strategy, organisation building, marketing, fund-raising and finance.
Prior to Nauta Capital, Oriol worked in investment banking and principal investment at Merrill Lynch and BNP Paribas in London for 8 years and in technology strategy consulting with Monitor Group.
Oriol regularly speaks and serves as judge at events/ competitions organised by Techcrunch, Websummit, Whitebull, Wayra and TheSouthSummit, amongst others. He is also a mentor at Techstars, Startupbootcamp, Wayra, Conector and The Founder Institute.
Oriol holds a Bachelor from ESADE in Barcelona, a Master of International Management from Thunderbird, USA and an MBA from London Business School. He has also completed graduate courses at Stanford University.
Co-Founder of Whisbi, Alex is a born entrepreneur, with a passion for innovation and disruptive business models. The creator of the Video Agent concept along with José Luís Cantero, he holds a degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE) and has a Diploma in Business.
He has extensive experience in company management. Prior to Whisbi, for 3 years, Alex was CEO at Outservico, an outsourcing company with over 600 employees. For five years, Alex was Director of a telemarketing company specialising in banking and insurance, with a staff of over 1,000 operators.
An active mentor within the Barcelona Start Up world, Alex has his finger on the pulse of digital media and technology.
